From October 3 to 6, 2024, the 5th Conference of the Association of General Practitioners/Family Medicine of Southeast Europe took place in Budva, Montenegro. The event focused on key challenges in modern medicine.
The main topics included the treatment of chronic non-communicable diseases, multimorbidity in geriatric patients, prevention of malignant diseases, and obesity. Special emphasis was also placed on climate change and its impact on family medicine.
A significant part of the conference was dedicated to healthcare simulation training, led by instructors from the Slovenian and Macedonian SIM centers. Four workshops were held, with pediatric life support and the care of patients with anaphylactic reactions standing out. A total of 70 professionals participated, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees emphasized that such workshops are essential in medical practice.
Representatives from the Ministry of Health of Montenegro also attended the event and expressed interest in further collaboration in this area.
